Patience is a Virtue
Greg Mortenson had spent almost the last year trying to get back to Pakistan to begin building the school in kophe. For a man like Greg this was an agonizing year. He is a man of action, and inaction makes him restless. I couldn't help but smile when after that long wait he comes to Pakistan ready to get things done. And instead he ends up drinking tea. After sitting at the first shop for an hour he believes he is ready to buy some cement. He asks Abdhul what cement company the shop patrons reccomended. Abdhul responds "Do You know they couldn't say, they recommended another tea shop where the owners cousin used to be in the cement business." Personally I would have had trouble restraining myself.

The title for your post is perfect, Phil! Yes, he must learn much patience, but we also learn that patience is sometimes well rewarded. In this example, it sure was. I wonder how far his money would have gone without this help? My guess is he would have bought nothing but junk and at twice the price!
ReplyDeleteThis hits home with me. I get restless very easily and I would be the same way, ready to get things done.
ReplyDeletePatience is a Virtue for sure!
ReplyDeleteIt is almost comical to me how important tea really is in these cultures and how something so simple can be used for much more than just to quench your thirst.
