Cancer is the cause of millions of deaths per year. It has torn families apart and is an illness that can often lead to fatal consequences if not detected early on. I believe it is a cause that is well worth curing as it has increasing become one of the top fatal diseases in the United States. Finding a cure for breast cancer is specifically important to me because I have members of my family who have it. The mother of a close friend of mine died a few years ago and it tore him up to see her through those final stages. Its a disease that is so overwhelmingly hostile in some cases that if a women does not have regular check ups then they could be susceptible to it. I am a big fan of the Susan G. Komen foundation and have participated in some of their events to help raise awareness such as the race for the cure. In the grand scheme of things, $20,000 is not much as far as trying to find a cure but if it gets us just a tiny step further in making women around the world better then I would give every cent. In the United States as of 2006, about 30 million women were diagnosed with breast cancer. That same year close to 5.2 million died. That is 5.2 million families that have lost their mothers, sisters, aunts, and grandmothers. Luckily, more women every year are getting annual check ups catching the cancer early and decreasing the mortality rate. It is a cause worth fighting for as millions of women are fighting to stay alive to beat this disease.
I agree with this is a very serious issue right now and various types of cancer is increasing around the world.
