Iacocca Family Foundation

The organization that I am introducing is the Iacocca Family Foundation. If I had 20,000 dollars to donate, and take six months of my time to work for, I would choose this organization.

Discovered about 40 years ago, diabetes comes in two forms; Type 1, and Type 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disorder that hinders the body's ability to produce insulin. If a victim of diabetes does not obtain required amounts of insulin, the body's cells cannot function, causing heart damage, stroke, and possible amputation. Type 2 diabetes is much more common than Type 1, but is similar in some ways. Like Type 1 diabetes, Type 2 also involves the body's production of insulin, but Type 2 can reject injections of supplemental insulin.

Patients diagnosed with either form of diabetes must endure this disease for the rest of their life. Today, diabetes has no cure, and requires patients to alter their lifestyle to maintain a precise blood-sugar level.
